Celebrating the PixelARTed2 exhibition

Visitors to the exhibition: Dee Copeland, Christine van Rens and Mike Smithson

PixelARTed2

On the evening of 16 November, we celebrated our second PixelARTed exhibition: ‘The world around’. What started in 2021 as an idea to showcase our digital art, has turned into a PlusPix Collective annual event. PlusPix Collective is a band of artists who are all interested in drawing on their iPad using the Procreate drawing app. We came together as a result of attending and presenting the foundational ‘Dive into Digital’ art classes with the Artists Society of Canberra; we wanted to continue the fun and learning. We’re grateful that the Society has created a digital art category for their annual spring exhibition and opened its doors to a digital art working group that meets monthly.

This year, three PlusPix members exhibited: Anne McDermott, Judy Hutchinson, and Peter van Rens. Personal circumstances prevented the other two members - JoAnne Pulko and myself - from joining this event. Once again we exhibited at The Front in Lyneham. We are grateful for the cafe’s continued support. Watch the video of the launch:

I was touched and honoured to be asked to launch the exhibition as the guest speaker. Listen to my speech:

The opening night was well attended. The artists were delighted that each of them sold artworks, which are available as limited editions. We’re already looking forward to next year’s exhibition: PixelARTed 3.
